Functions

You may be required to provide certain information in order to use some of the functions on this Site or App (“Function(s)”).Examples of Functions include the Get an Auto Quote Function, the File a Claim Function, the Pay My Bill Function and the Access My Account Function. Each Function will provide guidance regarding whether and what information is necessary to utilize it. Functions may be modified from time to time, and different Functions may require different information.

You are not obligated to provide any requested information, but it might not be possible to process your request or grant you access to certain Functions without the information requested. For instance, it is necessary for you to provide certain personal information in order to obtain a quote. If you are ever asked for personal information as part of your visit to this Site or App, and you do not want to provide that information, simply do not proceed with that Function.

App/Online Account

When you download, register with, or use this App or register for an Online Account, we may ask you to provide certain personal information such as name, postal address, email address, telephone number, policy number and details of financial transactions ("personal information").

When you use the ERIE Your Turn or EnRoute App or Services our technology partner, Cambridge Mobile Telematics (“CMT”), will collect information about your driving style and habits, such as location, speed, acceleration, braking and cornering and combine this with weather, traffic, time of day and other contextual data. Such use is based upon you giving explicit consent to this profiling when registering to use the App or Services. CMT shares that information with ERIE so we can provide you the App.

Information Use and Disclosure

We only use and disclose personal information collected through this Site or App as permitted or required by law in conjunction with our normal insurance operations. Here are some examples:

• We may disclose information to others such as our claims adjusters and our attorneys in the processing of an insurance claim;
• We may be required by a court of law to provide information in connection with a legal proceeding;
• We may share information with consumer reporting agencies and insurance support organizations;
• We may share information with government agencies which conduct examinations of our procedures; and
• We may use or share information to enable functionality or presentation of relevant information.

We may also share information collected through the Site or App with our affiliates or companies that perform marketing services on our behalf to assist us in providing information regarding our products and services to you. These companies are required to keep such information confidential.

Information Security

While your personal information is under our control, access is limited to those who have legitimate business needs for such information. In accordance with applicable state and federal regulations we maintain physical, procedural and electronic safeguards to protect the privacy and confidentiality of information collected through this Site or App while it is under our control.

Usage Details, IP Addresses and Cookies

As you use and navigate through this Site or App, we may collect information related to your visits, including for example, traffic data, geographic data, reference website data and other communication data. Pursuant to the Maryland Safe at Home Address Confidentiality Program, ERIE has procedures in place to protect the privacy and confidentiality of its customers that have a valid Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) identification card identifying them as an ACP participant. 

ACP participants should submit their ACP number and substitute address information to ERIE using the contact information below.

After four (4) years, an ACP participant must reapply if continuation in the program is desired. If a child is the insured, then this right may be asserted by the child’s parent or guardian.

To notify ERIE that you are a participant in the Maryland ACP, please contact ERIE at the address and telephone number listed below:

Pursuant to New York Insurance Law section 2612 and Regulation 168 (11 NYCRR 244), Erie Insurance Group (“ERIE”) has procedures in place to protect the privacy and confidentiality of persons covered by an insurance policy that have a valid order of protection against the policyholder or other persons covered by the policy.

Upon delivery to ERIE by an insured of a valid order of protection, ERIE will for the duration of the order keep confidential and not disclose to the policyholder or other persons the insured’s address and telephone number; or the name, address, and telephone number of a person providing covered services to the insured. If a child is the insured, then this right may be asserted by the child’s parent or guardian.

New York Insurance Law section 2612 also requires health insurers, which includes Workers’ Compensation insurers, to accommodate a reasonable request made by a person covered by an insurance policy to receive communications of claim-related information by alternative means or at alternative locations. Except with the express consent of the person making the request, a health insurer may not disclose to the policyholder: (1) the address, telephone number, or any other personally identifying information of the person who made the request or child for whose benefit a request was made; (2) the nature of the health care services provided; or (3) the name or address of the provider of the covered services.

Pursuant to Illinois 215 ILCS 5/355b, Section 2028.30, Erie Insurance Group (“ERIE”) has procedures in place to protect the privacy and confidentiality of persons covered by an insurance policy who believe that disclosure of their information could endanger themselves, or if they have a valid order of protection against the policyholder or other persons covered by the policy.

Illinois Insurance Law 215 ILCS 5/355b requires any company that issues, delivers, amends, or renews an individual or group policy of accident and health insurance to accommodate a reasonable request by a person covered by a policy issued by the company to receive communications of claim-related information from the company by alternative means or at alternative locations if the person clearly states that disclosure of all or part of the information could endanger the person. Or, a valid order of protection may be submitted along with an alternative address, telephone number or other contact information. If a child is a covered person, then the right established by this section may be asserted by the child’s parent or guardian.

Upon delivery to ERIE of a reasonable request to keep information confidential from the policyholder or other persons covered under the policy, or, of a valid order of protection, ERIE will keep confidential and not disclose to the policyholder or other persons, the requestor’s address and telephone number; or the name, address, and telephone number of a person providing covered services to the requestor. If a child is the victim, then the child’s parent or guardian may assert this right.

To revoke a request: To revoke a request, the victim must submit a sworn statement to the address below:

If the victim contacts an Agent, the Agent should advise them that the request for termination needs to be submitted in writing, and that the signed request be submitted to the Executive Resolution Department immediately.
