The day Michael Vozzelli turned 21 he headed to Atlantic City, N.J., to celebrate with a friend. After a night of drinking, Vozzelli decided to get in the driver’s seat as they headed for home. It was his first time driving impaired and his life forever changed. Vozzelli is one of the speakers with the Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital’s Cruizin’ Not Boozin’ program, a community outreach initiative that began 18 years ago and allows patients who have survived drug or alcohol related vehicle crashes to share their firsthand accounts with young drivers. Vozzelli’s message includes a warning to young drivers who think they are invincible, like he once thought. “It only takes one time and the consequences could be devastating,” he says. Hear the rest of his story and learn more about the Cruizin’ Not Boozin’ program by listening to our most recent Lookin’ Out podcast. |
